ROI and yield calculator

ROI measures how efficient your betting is, rather than how much you happened to stake. Enter your total stakes and your profit, in euros or in units, and add the number of bets to see the average per bet.
ROI, yield and why profit alone tells you nothing
ROI = profit ÷ total staked × 100
Two bettors both finish the year €800 up. One staked €10,000 and one staked €100,000. The first has an ROI of 8 percent and a real edge; the second has 0.8 percent and is close to breaking even after variance. Profit on its own hides that completely, which is why every honest record leads with ROI or yield rather than a euro figure.
Yield is the same calculation under a different name, used by tipsters to express average profit per unit staked. A yield of plus 10 percent means plus 10 units for every 100 units staked.
What is realistic
Sustained ROI in the low single digits up to around 10 percent is strong over a large sample. Professional syndicates operating at scale often work with less, because they are staking amounts where a 2 percent edge is a serious income. Anyone advertising 50 percent monthly returns is either describing a short lucky run or not showing you the losing bets.
Sample size is the catch
ROI over 30 bets is noise. Over 100 it is still mostly noise. A few hundred settled bets is where the number starts describing skill rather than luck, and even then a losing month proves nothing on its own. When you judge any tipster, including us, look at the number of settled picks before you look at the percentage.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good ROI in sports betting?
Sustained ROI between about 2 and 10 percent over a large sample is considered strong. Anything consistently above 20 percent is exceptional and usually indicates a small sample, a soft market that will not last, or selective reporting.
What is the difference between ROI and yield?
They are the same calculation. ROI is the general term for profit divided by total staked, and yield is the word tipsters use for it, expressed as average profit per unit staked.
How many bets before ROI is meaningful?
Treat a few hundred settled bets as the minimum before ROI describes skill rather than variance. Under 100 bets, a positive or negative figure can easily be produced by luck alone.
Should I calculate ROI on turnover or on bankroll?
On turnover, meaning total amount staked. Return on bankroll is a different and more flattering number, because a bankroll gets staked many times over in a season.
